Did you know that we use SSD drives in all our production servers?
What is a SSD drive?
SSD comes from “solid-state drive” and represents a new generation of storage drives which have no moving mechanical components as all the information is stored in microchips.
This makes them more reliable and gives them a higher performance level.
Why are they better?
SSD drivers are better because they don’t bare the risk of failing due to mechanical fatigue or mechanical breakdown so there’s a lower risk of data corruption and data loss as well.
But wait! There’s more.
SSD drives are much faster than classic HDD drives and their average boot time is 3 times faster than the boot time of a classic HDD.
Also, the read/write rates can be up to 10 times higher than those of a classic HDD while file opening speed is usually 30% higher.
